Red flags hoisted at several beaches

     Here is an item of interest to swimmers.

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (April 4) that due to big waves, red flags have been hoisted at Stanley Main Beach, Turtle Cove Beach, Shek O Beach and Big Wave Bay Beach in Southern District, Hong Kong Island, and Hap Mun Bay Beach, Silverstrand Beach, Clear Water Bay First Beach and Clear Water Bay Second Beach in Sai Kung District. Beach-goers are advised not to swim at these beaches.




Lifesaving services suspended at Butterfly Beach

     Please broadcast the following as soon as possible and repeat it at regular intervals:

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (April 4) that due to an insufficient number of lifeguards on duty, the lifesaving services at Butterfly Beach in Tuen Mun District are suspended until further notice.

     First aid service will be maintained at the beach.




Fatal traffic accident in North Point

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in North Point in the small hours today (April 4) in which a 75-year-old man died.

     At about 4.50am, a taxi was travelling along Island Eastern Corridor eastbound. When approaching Oil Street, it reportedly knocked down the 75-year-old man. After the impact, the taxi left the scene.

     Sustaining multiple injuries, the man was certified dead at scene.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island is underway.

     Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has any information is urged to contact the investigating officers on 3660 6800 or 3660 6849.




Lifesaving services at Cheung Chau Tung Wan Beach resume

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department has announced that the lifesaving services at Cheung Chau Tung Wan Beach in Islands District resumed today (April 4). The lifesaving services at the beach were suspended earlier due to an insufficient number of lifeguards on duty.




Missing woman in Sau Mau Ping located

     A woman who went missing in Sau Mau Ping has been located.

     Wong Hoi-ling, aged 23, went missing after she was last seen in Upper Ngau Tau Kok Estate on April 1 afternoon. Her family made a report to Police on April 2.   

     The woman returned to her residence last night (April 3). She sustained no injuries and no suspicious circumstances were detected.
