Temporary suspension of self-service library station services

     The self-service library station located at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui will suspend services from 10am to 1pm on July 18 (Thursday), while the station located at Island East Sports Centre Sitting-out Area will suspend services from 2pm to 6pm on the same day for regular maintenance, a spokesman for the Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (July 16).

     During the service suspension period, readers are welcome to use other public libraries to borrow or return library materials. They may also renew library materials by telephoning 2698 0002 or 2827 2833, or via www.hkpl.gov.hk.




Lifesaving services at Golden Beach resume

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced that the lifesaving services at Golden Beach in Tuen Mun District have resumed today (July 16). The lifesaving services at the beach were suspended earlier due to an insufficient number of lifeguards on duty.




“2019 Summer Fun Party – Explore Nature in Summer” to be held at Queen Elizabeth Stadium this weekend (with photos)

     "2019 Summer Fun Party – Explore Nature in Summer", organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), will be held this Saturday and Sunday (July 20 and 21) from 2.30pm to 5.30pm at Queen Elizabeth Stadium. Admission is free and members of the public are welcome to join.
 
     With a theme of exploring nature, the carnival will showcase an array of interesting programmes. The children's musical "Journey to the Secret Treasure" will tell a story of three children in a treasure hunt from which they learn to enjoy and conserve nature. Other stage performances will include sand painting, a recycled percussion performance and puppet theatre.
 
     The event will also present a variety of educational and fun-filled workshops, including upcycling postcards, frottage, potted plant recycling, leaf-whistling and "A little bird told me" storytelling. The activities aim to teach children to love nature through arts. In addition, there will be a ukulele and hula demonstration and workshop for participants to appreciate and know more about Hawaiian culture.

Civic Education Exhibition to be held at Hong Kong Book Fair

The following is issued on behalf of the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education:

     Members of the public are invited to visit the Civic Education Exhibition 2019 to be held at the Hong Kong Book Fair 2019 (Booth 3B-C36, Children's Paradise). The exhibition will be open from tomorrow (July 17) to July 23 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

     The exhibition is jointly organised by the Home Affairs Bureau and the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education (CPCE). Apart from featuring materials and publications on civic education, visitors are welcome to take GIF photos at the photo corner, take part in interactive games and receive souvenirs at the booth.
 
     The organisers will hold a ceremony for the exhibition at 11.45am on Thursday (July 18) at the stage in the Children's Paradise. Apart from a dance performance by parents and children and a Nunchaku performance, the singing group Sugar Club will also perform during the ceremony.
