Police conduct dispersal operation in Wan Chai

Please broadcast the following message as soon as possible and repeat it at suitable intervals:
 
     A large group of protestors are blocking the junction of Hennessy Road and Fenwick Street, Wan Chai, and throwing petrol bombs and aiming laser beams at Police officers. Such acts pose a threat to the safety of everyone at scene.
      
     Having given repeated warnings to the protestors but in vain, Police officers have deployed tear gas and used minimum force to disperse protestors.
      
     Police appeal to everyone at scene to leave immediately and condemn all violent acts by the protestors.
      
     Residents of the area are advised to stay tuned to the latest situation and if necessary, keep their windows shut and stay indoors.
 




Protesters blocked the junction of Lockhart Road and Fenwick Street

     A large group of protestors have set up barricades at the junction of Lockhart Road and Fenwick Street, Wan Chai, seriously obstructing traffic and emergency services.
      
     Also, some protestors are aiming laser beams at Police officers, posing a threat to the safety of everyone at scene.
      
     The protestors concerned are participating in an “unauthorised assembly”. Police warn them to stop all unlawful acts immediately. They should respect others’ rights while expressing their views.
      
     Police appeal to everyone at scene to leave immediately and remind drivers to stay tuned to the latest traffic arrangement.
 




Suspected case test negative for MERS-CoV

     The Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health today (August 11) reported that the suspected case of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) pending results yesterday (August 10), upon preliminary testing, tested negative for MERS Coronavirus.




Wan Chai Police Station Report Room service suspended

     The Report Room service of Wan Chai Police Station is now temporarily suspended. Police appeal to members of the public not to obstruct the emergency vehicles access so as to avoid affecting the emergency services provided to the public. In case of emergency, please call 999.
