Lifesaving services suspended at Cafeteria New Beach

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (August 16) that due to an insufficient number of lifeguards on duty, the lifesaving services at Cafeteria New Beach in Tuen Mun District are suspended until further notice.

     First aid service will be maintained at the beach.  




Lifesaving services suspended at Clear Water Bay Second Beach

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (August 16) that due to an insufficient number of lifeguards on duty, the lifesaving services at Clear Water Bay Second Beach in Sai Kung District are suspended until further notice.

     First aid service will be maintained at the beach.




Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected cocaine (with photo)

     â€‹Hong Kong Customs seized about 1 920 grams of suspected cocaine with an estimated market value of about $2.48 million on August 14 at the Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal.

     Customs officers conducted customs clearance on an incoming male passenger at the Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal on the evening of August 14 and found the batch of suspected cocaine concealed inside false compartments of his suitcase. The 25-year-old man was then arrested.

     It is believed that the suspected cocaine was delivered to Hong Kong via Macau from Philippines. An investigation is ongoing. 

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in dangerous drugs is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.

Red flags hoisted at Clear Water Bay First Beach and Clear Water Bay Second Beach

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (August 16) that due to inclement weather, red flags have been hoisted at Clear Water Bay First Beach and Clear Water Bay Second Beach in Sai Kung District. Beach-goers are advised not to swim at these beaches.
